Short but weighty call for a reorganization of production integrating the values of socialism and environmentalism, from John Bellamy Foster, one of the key Marxist thinkers addressing ecological crises. Foster is known primarily for his description of the "second contradiction" of capitalism, namely that capitalism must constantly expand sales and production to survive, yet the earth's resources are finite- so basically capitalism forces us to burn out all of our natural resources to remain profitable. It's a controversial theory, but given the state of the world I'd say it's a reasonable argument.
