Fight Proposed Nuclear Plants in Texas Jan 31st, 2008 Please join Nuclear Free Texas in a presentation about recent proposals to build two new nuclear power plants in Texas. NRG, a company that rececently was on the verge of bankruptcy, has proposed to add two nuclear plants to the South Texas (Nuclear) Project site in Matagorda County, near Bay City, Texas. These plants came in 600% over budget and eight years late last time. In 2003 there was a leak of radioactive material at one of the two existing units. Despite industry claims to the contrary, nuclear plants pose risks from accidents, radioactive exposure, storage of wastes, and the ultimate nightmare - a meltdown. | ||

The Austin Time Exchange Network (ATEN) is a local program that enables individuals to provide and receive skills and services within a network of people and organizations in Greater Austin. Similar to concepts expressed in bartering and alternative currency systems, this grassroots initiative lets members exchange labor and assistance without using the U.S. Dollar. Launched in April of 2006, ATEN currently has over 60 members and invites new participants to join by attending any of our upcoming introduction meetings. | ||
