Austin continues its monthly Amnesty International film night on Sun.\, Jan. 13\, at Monkeywrench Books\, with \\"The Letter\\" (2003\, d. Ziad Hamzeh\, 76 min.). In this film\, a firestorm erupts when 1\,100 Somali refugees relocate to economically depressed Lewiston\, Maine and the mayor attempts to deter more from coming.

Natalie Marquis will be speaking about her inspiring work on Monday. Natalie is the general manager for Habitat Suites\, a famous permaculture-based hotel in north central Austin. They've developed a normal hotel into a prominent green hotel\, through an array of basic changes. Natalie is also the Executive Director of the Texas Solar Energy Society.
This is the first installation of a new monthly feature at Monkeywrench Books\, a presentation from a local environmental leader or entrepreneur.

Please join Nuclear Free Texas in a presentation about recent proposals to build two new nuclear power plants in Texas.
NRG\, a company that rececently was on the verge of bankruptcy\, has proposed to add two nuclear plants to the South Texas (Nuclear) Project site in Matagorda County\, near Bay City\, Texas.
These plants came in 600% over budget and eight years late last time. In 2003 there was a leak of radioactive material at one of the two existing units. Despite industry claims to the contrary\, nuclear plants pose risks from accidents\, radioactive exposure\, storage of wastes\, and the ultimate nightmare - a meltdown.
