"Meeting Face to Face" chronicles the 2005 Iraq-U.S. Labor Solidarity Tour
sponsored by U.S. Labor Against the War. The tour follows six Iraqi labor
leaders as they meet with union members in twenty-five cities throughout
the United States. Speaking to American audiences for the first time, Iraqis
explain why the primary condition for a peaceful resolution in Iraq is
ending the U.S. occupation and why an independent labor movement is
crucial in creating a democratic society. Produced by Michael Zweig.

The movie will be introduced by a member of TXLAW who helped organize the
2005 and 2007 Solidarity Tours and will be followed by discussion.

Sponsored by Campus Antiwar Movement to End Occupations and Texas Labor
Against the War.

Information and Recent Videos from Oaxaca

On July 16th, the Oaxaca state police attacked a demonstration with tear gas and clubs. Again. The result was 40 people injured--two of them in serious condition and hospitalized, 60 people arrested, six buses five cars and a truck burned in barricades on the streets.

428 days after a peaceful strike by the state teacher's union was attacked by state and city police--an action that caused a state-wide rebellion resulting in 23 deaths and hundreds of arrests of demonstrators-- the police and the Governor of Oaxaca have again attempted to crush a peaceful demonstration demanding liberty and justice in Oaxaca.

Please join us for an evening of information and recent video footage from the Mal de Ojo video collective. We will screen their June 2007 film COMPROMISO CUMPLIDO a documentary that denounces Human Rights violations committed by the government of Ulises Ruiz Ortiz, including six political murders, which occurred during the 2006 Oaxaca uprising. The film uncovers a strategy of State terrorism which to this day remains unpunished. The film is in spanish. No subtitles were available at the time of this announcement.
